FAQs

To use the Bluetooth in the Moonside app, the app itself needs to be granted location permission from the Android system as well. You can turn on the location permission in the phone’s app permission settings. It’s what the Android system requires.

You can control your Moonside light with multiple phones either via Bluetooth mode or Wi-Fi Cloud mode:

- For the Bluetooth mode: You can pair your light with multiple smartphones' app over Bluetooth. The pairing process is the same on different phones. Please note that while operating under Bluetooth mode, one Moonside light can be only connected to one smartphone concurrently (at the same time). So please make sure to close and exit the Moonside app on other phones while pairing and controlling the light on the new phone.

- For the Wi-Fi cloud mode: Firstly, you will need to pair the light with each of your smartphones via Bluetooth first (same as above) and sign in to the same Moonside account. Then you can switch the controlling mode of your device to Wi-Fi cloud mode. Once the light is successfully configured to the Wi-Fi cloud mode you can control your Moonside light over the Wi-Fi internet on different phones with the Moonside app concurrently at the same time.

If the lamp was in Wi-Fi mode, you will need to turn off your Wi-Fi router or place the lamp at a place where it can't reach the configured Wi-Fi signal. Then you will need to unplug and replug the lamp into power. The lamp will reboot itself to Bluetooth mode after failing to connect to the Wi-Fi under Wi-Fi cloud mode.

If the lamp was in Bluetooth mode, you can simply close and exit your app, and make sure to check the lamp is not connected in your phone's Bluetooth setting. Then you can reopen the app and pair your lamp again.

You could choose either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi mode to control your Moonside lamp. These two control modes can't operate at the same time. Their main difference is how you want to control your lights.

If you just want easy and instant control, you could just use Bluetooth mode. Bluetooth mode is also useful when there is no Wi-Fi signal.

The Wi-Fi cloud mode is best suitable when you want your light to connect to your smart home system such as Google Home, Alexa, IFTTT, HomeKit and other smarthome integrations.

Yes, we will provide open APIs for interested developers to control the lamp one. The open APIs support will be rolled out through future firmware updates. If you have any particular interested APIs, please feel to let us know.
